Modern Prairie
Almaden Valley, 95120
This modern, multilevel, hillside home was built with Prairie School architectural style. Its intricate, structurally detailed design is comprised primarily of concrete and steel, including large overhangs with seemingly unsupported spans. A cantilevered roof runs 15’ beyond the supporting ‘window wall’. Other features include exposed concrete flooring, two-story-high stonework passing through windows, open floor plan with 18-foot ceilings, two-story window walls, corner-less windows, an exposed wood ceiling, metal standing roof at barrel vault, and exposed metal staircases.
The fireplace is comprised of glass on all four sides with the flue completely suspended from the ceiling. A living room interlocking walnut panel opens to a TV. Shoji screens in the master bedroom are fully hidden into the wall cavity when not in use.
